The ASFORCLIC project is designed to significantly increase the research excellence of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology (FFWT) MENDELU and establish it as a European research leader, trendsetter, and scientific hub in the area of research focused on climate and global change impacts on Forestry and Wood Applications.

The research topics and a robust research team covering the entire value chain aim to achieve this specific challenge and enhance the research ecosystem at the widening institution. The knowledge acquired during the project implementation can be utilised for achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations, especial SDG 15: Life on land, which is focused on "Sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, halt biodiversity loss".
